30 things

Time to change it up a bit... no depressing post here.

30 things...

1: If your horse could talk what would they say? What would they be like?
I’ve often imagined what George would say, I quite honestly think he would be like his name sake. George Costanza from Seinfeld. A bit neurotic, but loveable.

2: If you were a horse, what would you look like (color, markings, etc), what discipline would you do, and what would you be like to ride?
lol, this made me giggle. I would be a lighter gray that was almost white, showing my age and not quite as beautiful as I was when I was younger. I’d be game for any type of riding. For example I would be ridden western, although I prefer English. I’d be very easy to ride (that’s what she said)…

3: How many barns have you ridden at?
a handful.

4: What kind of bay do you prefer? (bright bay, blood bay, etc)
bright bay with no chrome.

5: Can you braid a horse's mane? Tail?
not well, not well at all.

6: Do you believe that you have to fall off in order to be a good rider?
No, I think it might put you in your place though at times.

7: What do you think is more important: eq or effective riding?
they are both equally the same and go hand in hand.

8: Are there any "horse couples" at your barn?

yes, my hubby and I. But of the equine variety? No.

9: Favorite treat to feed your horse?
Peppermints.

10: Silly quirks your horse has.

Where to start, my horse is made up entirely of quirks. Everything has to be George’s idea, so when riding you have to make him think it was entirely his idea. He doesn’t like to be loved up on, he’s a serious fellow who hates PDA. When feeding dinner, drop the dish and get the hell out of the way, he will come at you, bro. If he hates you, he will show you. Especially if he doesn’t trust you. Umm, he has a mini melt down sometimes about 5 minutes into a warm up, usually when he is starting to get bored. You need to quietly and gently tell him he will survive and he can go on. If you use force with him, he WILL show you his displeasure…

11: Strangest thing you've fed your horse.

Hmmmm I can’t think of anything strange.

12: Have you ever made any horse friends through the internet?

Lots of them, but I’ve never actually met them in real life.

13: Would you buy horse furniture?
furniture for my horses no way. But no probably not.  Decorative accent pieces or pictures? Sure.

14: Funniest horsey moment

I have a few, but they aren’t coming to mind.

15: Post a picture of your horse (or any horse) making a silly face that you got on camera!

16: What's a moment with horses that you wished you caught on camera?
I wish I had a ton more pictures of me riding Piney or Yellow for that matter. I don’t have hardly any.

17: How old was the youngest horse you've met?
less than a few hours old.

18: How old was the oldest horse you've met?
in his 30’s.

19: Opinion on colorful tack? (like red or blue)
Saddles, and bridles? No, But I love me some bright saddle pads.

20: Have you ever tried horse treats? Hay?

no, but not because they are gross, but I just never have.

21: Have you ever felt like giving up on a horse?

Yes. With George.

22: Tell the story about the horse that you first felt "click" immediately with you (and if you can't remember, most recent)
Yellow. I remember my friend bringing him out to the sandhills for me to ride. He was being a douche for the first half hour, no one wanted to help me with him either and the girls we were riding with were just as douchey if not more so. I then gave him his head, and a nice loose rein and it was unbelievable. It was like driving a Cadillac. I will always remember that ride.

23: Ever ridden side-saddle? How was it?
no, and it sounds scary.

24: Most interesting place you've ridden at.
Up in the mountains in Big Sky, Montana. OR through the really beautiful trails by the barn I leased a horse at in Sweden.

25: What kind of horse do you like? (sport, stock, endurance, etc)

Sport horses.

26: Do you feel like you have more patience with horses than people?

Sometimes.

27: Is the horse you ride very vocal?
Not really.

28: Ever ridden in the sunset?

Yes, plenty of times.

sunset ride in Medora.

29: How do you like a horse's mane? (roached, pulled, long, etc)
I love a nice, clean pulled mane, but I’ve been letting George’s grow.

30: What is your dream name for a horse?

Well I’ve always wanted a horse with a person name. I think they are hilarious… and now I have George. But for a show name, Aspercil like in “The Horse in The Gray Flannel Suit”

When it rains, it pours.

Seriously, what did I do? We were getting ready to go out for a few adult beverages to celebrate the new year. I did a horse check and tossed pony some more hay.
She was down. She is never down. Ever.
#€!?*^+#^%!!!!! Can't get her up. And can't get her up. She is up, but only for 3 minutes. Down and then rolling halfway. And then laying flat out. Closing her eyes.
A ton of calls to the vet and she said to bring her in. She hadn't been optimistic until we told her Pony just pooped.
She laid down in the trailer and then after we got her up and out she laid back down in the clinic. She was obviously not happy and in pain. But her heart rate was normal and she was pooping normal poops. The vet ended up pumping water and mineral oil in. And then they put in an iv catheter. Pony had some pain meds and by this point had been standing for quite awhile. She was looking better but wasn't quite out of the woods. We put her in a stall and hooked her up to some fluids. She is still there and was looking better, but $&#%*!! Why?! I don't need this now.
We should be able to pick her up tomorrow. Sorry for this craptasticly written post. I am on my iphone. I promise to write a real post soon...
And thank you all for your kind words and thoughts in regards to my brother. I haven't really been doing that great in regards to that situation. Outwardly I am fine, but inside I am not.

Send me some good thoughts for Pony pants.
